WHY ARE MAMMOGRAMS IMPORTANT?

Breast Cancer is the second leading cause of death among women today. Early Detection is the Best Defence against it. The earlier breast cancer is found, better is the outcome. A lump in the breast cannot always be felt in its early stages, a mammogram is capable of detecting a lump up to 2 years before it can be felt.

UNDERSTANDING RISK OF BREAST CANCER

Women who fall within the age group of 40-50 years are more prone to breast cancer.
Hence, it is imperative that yearly mammography is carried out for this age group.
For those women who have crossed 50 years of age mammography can be done once in two years.
Apart from the age factor, there are women who fall into the high risk zone.

ABOUT MAMMOGRAMS

Simple, Easy & Effective

Mammograms are detailed x-rays of the breast that helps identify for any signs of breast cancer. It detects abnormal areas if any in the breast. It hardly takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete the entire process. The breasts are placed between two plastic plates compressing it. This can cause a little discomfort but is totally safe. It exposes the breasts to small amount of radiation which is lesser than x-rays thereby reducing any potential risks.

TESTIMONIALS

  • I took Anderson’s mammography as part of the routine checks I do annually. I was shocked when they identified the traces of breast cancer. Thanks to the early detection, it helped in getting the issue resolved before it got out of hand.

  • Both my aunts were diagnosed with breast cancer hence I was a regular at Andersons since they were the ones who diagnosed for them. I too came out positive and had to undergo an invasive procedure. I do my routine checks at Anderson now to ensure that there isn’t a relapse.

  • Being a health conscious individual I do my routine checks at Anderson with my wife. One of those mammograms showed her as positive. It was good that it was detected early. They ensured that they cooled her nerves and gave her the confidence that it can be dealt easily. We still do our annual checks there.

  • My middle aged daughter, a single parent was checked and diagnosed with breast cancer at Anderson. The kind staff had nice words and understood the mental turmoil of the family. Today she is back to normal after the surgery. I can never thank them enough for their empathy. Now we frequent them for all our diagnosis. All staff are very helpful and professional.

  • There was a lump on my left breast and I was asked to take mammogram for it. I was too scared to undergo the procedure but the doctor at Anderson took his time to explain to me and gave me the confidence to get it done. I was diagnosed with breast cancer on the left and was shocked to notice that my right breast too had traces which weren’t obvious until we took the mammogram. Now post surgery I am doing fine. Thanks to the doctor at Anderson for giving me confidence to go ahead with this.
